Italian Language Courses in 50 exciting cities throughout Italy
Venice,
a city unique in the world, has more than 300,000 inhabitants and
is the capital of the region Veneto. It spreads over 18 small islands
on the beautiful “laguna Veneto”, crossed by 160 canals
and connected by more than 400 bridges.
It is more than ever a city devoted to art, in all its forms. Its
wonderful artistic heritage can be seen in its numerous museums,
which hold the original works by artists who have made a major contribution
to the history of art; or taking a simple walk through the city,
where you will find yourself like in an open air museum, surrounded
by “palazzi” and churches of unsurmountable beauty.
Once every two years, Venice holds one of the most important exhibitions
in the world of contemporary art: “la Biennale di Venezia”,
an exceptional platform for today's best artists. Apart from it,
many other cultural and artistical activities take place throughout
the year, among them its internationally famous carnival, which
for 10 days fills the city with colour, masks and music.
Venice is also known as the "City of lovers". The absence
of cars allows people to take long and placid walks, accompanied
only by the sound of water splashing serenely on the shore.
Restaurants in Venice are famous for their fish specialities. You
can try as well the famous Venetian “cicchetti”, small
portions of food usually served as snacks.
